Description: Waltzing Matilda (IRE) B , F, foaled May 13, 2011 (Danehill Dancer (IRE) - Simadartha, by Gone West) makes her first North American start a winning one with a victory in the 10 furlong $300K Grade II New York Stakes on the firm inner turf course at Belmont Park June 5, 2015. Jockey Junior Alvarado settled Waltzing Matilda into stride racing towards the inside and saving ground around the first turn as Kitten's Queen set the pace. Waltzing Matilda raced between horses up the back stretch and around the far turn then found racing room at the top of the stretch to catch Kitten's Queen in deep stretch and hold off Eastern Belle's late charge to win by 3/4 lengths. Kitten's Queen held on for the show beaten just a nose for the place. Waltzing Matilda just came over from Ireland after her last start at The Curragh May 23rd. She won her first start at Leopardstown April 2, 2014 and then went on a 10 race losing streak. She is now 2-1-2 from 12 starts and she has earned $209,883.
