Description: Texas Red (KY) B , C, foaled March 15, 2012 (Afleet Alex - Ramatuelle (CHI), by Jeune Homme) ran off with the 9 furlong $600K Grade II Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga Race Track August 1, 2015. Jockey Kent Desormeaux sent Texas Red out to track Japan around the Clubhouse turn and up the back stretch. Frosted settled into 3rd as they ran up the back stretch. Japan had it his own way on lead and as they came to the quarter pole Texas Red and Frosted got after Japan. Texas Red ran on even terms with Japan to the 3/16's marker and started to edge clear. Frosted was eating away at Texas Red's lead down the stretch, however, it was Texas Red holding on to win the Jim Dandy by a 1/2 length. Japan saved the show, 3 3/4 lengths further back. Texas Red won the 2014 Grade I Breeders' Cup Juvenile last November at Santa Anita, was given some time off and ran 2nd to Lord Nelson in the Grade II San Vicente Stakes at Santa Anita February 1st, developed an abscess in his foot and had to be taken off the Triple Crown Trail. He resurfaced July 4th at Belmont Park in the Grade III Dwyer Stakes where he ran 2nd to Speister. Texas Red is 3-3-1 from 8 starts and he has earned $1,692,300.
