Description: Stellar Wind (VA) CH, F, foaled February 13, 2012 (Curlin - Evening Star, by Malibu Moon) gets her second straight Grade I victory with a win over fellow Champion Beholder in the 8.5 furlong $300K Zenyatta Stakes October 1, 2016 at Santa Anita. Regular rider Victor Espinoza and Stellar Wind broke alertly and gave chase as Beholder went out to show the way. Stellar Wind was racing in the third spot outside of Tara's Tango around the Clubhouse turn and up the back stretch. Stellar Wind went up to challenge Beholder after a half mile and those two started to pull away from the rest of the five horse field. After six furlongs Stellar Wind drew even with Beholder and they battled down the stretch. Stellar Wind got her neck in front at the eighth pole, Beholder stayed on and Stellar Wind got the win by neck at the line. Stellar Wind is 7-2-1 from 11 starts and she has earned $1,353,200 for her owners at Hronis Racing. She was bred by Keswick Stables & Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings and she is being trained by John Sadler. The Zenyatta Stakes is a Breeders' Cup Championship Challenge 'Win & You're In' Series race and Stellar Wind took a free berth into the 2015 BC Distaff November 4th at SA away from Beholder with her victory.
