Description: Slumber (GB) B , H, foaled May 7, 2008 (Cacique (IRE) - Sound Asleep, by Woodman) wakes up in a big way with a victory in the 10 furlong $1 million Grade I Manhattan Stakes over the 'good' inner turf course at Belmont Park June 6, 2015. Trainer Chad Brown installs blinkers and jockey Irad Oriz, Jr. and Slumber were sent on their way to his first win since August 15, 2013 in an AOC (no tag) at the Spa. Slumber was owned by Juddmonte Farms and trained by William Mott through his 2nd place finish in the Bowl Game Stakes October 19, 2014. Michael Dubb, Sheep Pond Partners, and Bethlehem Stables acquired him before his 7th place finish in the Grade III W. L. McKnight Handicap at Gulfstream Park December 27th. Slumber then ran 2nd to Mshawish, beaten a nose, in the Grade II Gulfstream Park Handicap February 2, 2015. Slumber then ran 2nd to Chocolate Ride in the Grade II Mervin H. Muniz Jr. H, beaten a head, March 28th at Fair Grounds. After his close up 5th place finish to Finnegans Wake in the Grade I Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 2nd, trainer Brown thought a small set of blinkers would do the trick. Slumber is now 5-4-4 from 21 starts and he has earned $999,662. In the Manhattan, Slumber was in a stalking position mid pack as War Dancer and Legendary showed the way. Slumber was racing along the hedge most of trip, found a seam in upper stretch and burst through overtaking Legendary and holding off Big Blue Kitten for a 2 3/4 length score. Legendary missed the place by a head to Big Blue Kitten. Drawing by Daily Racing Funnies ®.
