Description: Sheikhzayedroad (GB) B , G, foaled March 29, 2009 (Dubawi (IRE) - Royal Secrets (IRE), by Highest Honor (FR)) made his North American debut a winning one with a victory in the 1 1/2 miles $300K Grade I Northern Dancer Turf Stakes on the turf rated 'good' at Woodbine Racetrack September 14, 2014. Regular rider Martin Lane came over with Sheikhzayedroad and trainer David Simcock after having raced in Great Britain and Dubai, he won the Dubai Duty Free Gulf World Cup in January. Reporting Star went to the front early in the marathon event and seemed to have checked himself going around the first turn. At that point last year's defending champion, Forte Dei Marmi took the lead. However, Reporting Star regrouped and ran on by Forte Dei Marmi to set the pace. Sheikhzayedroad was sitting in mid pack until the far turn when he moved up strongly and found an opening down along the rail for the stretch run. Reporting Star still had the lead but Sheikhzayedroad came barreling through in deep stretch to win by 1/2 over Dynamic Sky. Reporting Star had to check when Sheikhzayedroad came over when clear and a subsequent review of the tapes by the stewards revealed no infraction was made. Reporting Star finished 3/4 lengths behind Dynamic Sky in 3rd. Sheikhzayedroad is now 8-3-4 from 21 starts and he has earned $501,999 for his owners/breeders Rabbah Bloodstock.
