Description: Om (KY) CH , C, foaled March 4, 2012 (Munnings - Rare Cat, by Tabasco Cat) is showing that being on of two horses to beat Triple Crown winner American was no fluke with a victory in the 9 furlong $250K Grade II Del Mar Derby on the firm turf course at Del Mar September 6, 2015.  Jockey Gary Stevens sent Om immediately to the front out of the gate and set all the pace.  Prospect Park tracked Om from the start but could not put any real pressure on that one.  As they turned for home Om kicked for the wire as Royal Albert Hall came from last, however, it was all Om;  he wins by 2 1/4 lengths at the end over Royal Albert Hall.  Prospect Park 2 1/2 lengths further back in 3rd.  Om gain attention early in his career as American Pharoah went on to win 8 in a row including the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes to become the first horse to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed accomplised that feat in 1978.  Om had broke his maiden, a MSW last August 9th at Del Mar.  That race was American Pharoah's first race; even in his fisrt start America Pharoah had all eyes on him as he went off as the favorite.  Om, however, went straight to the front and he won by 7 1/4 lengths at 22 to 1.  American Pharoah finished 2 lengths further back in 5th.  Om is now 3-1-1 from 7 starts and he has earned $274,500 for his owners at Sareen Family Trust.  He was bred by Lavin Bloodstock, Bernie Sams &William S. Farish, Jr. and he is being trained by Dan Hendricks.
