Description: Melatonin (KY) B , G, foaled May 9, 2011 (Kodiak Kowboy - Yanquee Reign, by Yankee Victor) wins the biggest race of his career with a victory in the 10 furlong $1 million Grade I Santa Anita Handicap at The Great Race Place March 12, 2016.  Jockey Joe Talamo and Melatonin set the pace along with General A Rod as they raced past the stands for the first time, around the Clubhouse turn and up the backstretch.  Donworth appeared to be the danger as he was under a tight hold along the rail. However, as they raced into the far turn Donworth tried to go through a narrow opening along the inside and had to check sharply.  Melatonin got away from the field as they raced down the stretch and won by 4 1/4 lengths.  Hard Aces made a move turning for home between horses and closed on the outside to best Effinex by a 1/2 length.  Melatonin is 4-2-3 from 11 starts and he has earned $768,552.  He was bred by S. D. Brilie, L.P., is owned by Tarabilla Farms, Inc., and he is being trained by David Hofmans.
