Description: Lewis Bay (KY) B , F, foaled May 1, 2013 (Bernardini - Summer Raven, by Summer Squall) finds herself planted firmly on the Kentucky Oaks Leaderboard as she wins for fun in the 9 furlong $300K Grade II Gazelle Stakes over a 'muddy' track at Aqueduct April 9, 2016. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. and Lewis Bay broke alertly and stayed out from the rail around the clubhouse turn as Clair De Lune showed the way. Mo D'Amour came through along the inside of Lewis Bay around the first turn to range up and press the pace up the backstretch. Lewis Bay stayed her course and as they rounded the far she came along side Clair De Lune and Mo D'Amour she hit the front turning for home and quickly opened up a commanding lead. Royal Obsession was close up racing in fourth most of the trip and followed Lewis Bay into the stretch. Lewis Bay was coasting home and Royal Obsession closed the gap to 1 1/2 lengths at the wire. Mo D'Amour was 7 lengths further back for the show. Dreams To Reality was fourth. The first four finishers earned Kentucky Oaks Points on a scale of 100-40-20-10.
