Description: Leading Light (IRE) B , C, foaled March 6, 2010 (Montjeu (IRE) - Dance Parade, by Gone West) won the 2 1/2 miles $622.5K Group I Gold Cup at Royal Ascot June 19, 2014. Jockey Joseph O'Brien kept Leading Light up close on the outside as they tracked the pacesetter Missunited for much of the race in 3rd or 4th. Missunited looked to be swallowed up and done for good as Estimate and Leading Light came to her rounding the last bend. However, Missunited dug it and gave those a two a battle all the way to the wire. Leading Light came away with the win by a neck over Estimate and Missunited had to settle for 3rd, beaten just 1/4 length for all the money. Leading Light is being conditioned by Aidan O'Brien for the Coolmore partners Mr D. Smith, Mrs J. Magnier, Mr M. Tabor. He was bred by Lynch-Bages Ltd. Drawing by Mel at Daily Racing Funnies.
