Description: Lady Eli (KY) DK B/, F, foaled February 2, 2012 (Divine Park - Sacre Coeur, by Saint Ballado) ran her undefeated streak to six with a command performance in the 10 furlong $1 million Grade I Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes over the firm turf course at Belmont Park July 4, 2015. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. settled Lady Eli into stride about eight lengths off the torrid pace set by Lady Zuzu as they traveled up the back stretch. She was in the clear in mid pack outside of Itsonlyactingdad as they entered the far turn. Lady Eli stayed out there and went widest of all as they turned for home. From there she demolished the field with her burst of speed, drawing off to win by 2 3/4 lengths. Itsonlyactingdad got off her inside track and went wide for running room and got the place by 3/4 lengths over Outstanding. Lady Eli, the 2014 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Champion is now 6 for 6, Ortiz Jr. has been aboard for all of her wins. She has earned $1,449,800 for her owners at Sheep Pond Partners. The Belmont Oaks Invitational is a Breeders' Cup World Championships Challenge Series race and Lady Eli get her entry fees paid for a start in the BC Filly & Mare Turf October 31st at Keeneland. Lady Eli was said to have stepped on a nail as she was walking from the testing barn to her own barn after her win in the Oaks. As a result of that injury she developed laminitis in both her front feet and her condition is extremely critical as this is being posted. Lady Eli was bred by Runnymede Farm Inc. & Clay Catesby and she is being trained by Chad Brown. Drawing by Daily Racing Funnies ®.
