Description: Kobe's Back (KY) GR/RO, H, foaled April 9, 2011 (Flatter - Well, by Well Decorated) comes from far back to win the 6 furlong $200K Grade II Palos Verdes Stakes at Santa Anita Park February 7, 2016. Jockey Gary Stevens and Kobe's Back trailed by many, as is his customary style, and came running late to catch Salutos Amigos to win by 1/2 length. Rocket Heat set the pace with Cautious Giant tracking him. Salutos Amigos raced along in 4th along the rail and Kobe's Back was 10 lengths off the pace as they rounded the far turn. Cautious Giant hit the front at the top of the stretch and Salutos Amigos came off the rail to give chase. Kobe's Back gained ground along the far outside and was in full gear as they raced to the finish. Salutos Amigos had the lead in deep stretch but Kobe's Back got to him late for the win.
