Description: Kaigun (ON) CH , G, foaled May 20, 2010 (Northern Afleet - Cruising Kris, by Kris S.) gets his first stakes victory in the 7 furlongs $200K Grade II Play The King Stakes on the turf at Woodbine Race Course August 10, 2014. Jockey Patrick Husbands settled Kaigun well off the pace and came running down along the inside as the field rounded the far turn. Lockout was also racing in the back of the pack and he was making his move on the far outside. As they straightened for home, Kaigun had the rail but a wall of horses was in front of him. The rider had to do some maneuvering and bulled Kaigun towards the middle of the track to find running room just to the inside of Lockout. Lockout could not match strides with Kaigun as Kaigun quickly hit the front to win by 3/4 lengths. Dimension had a troubled trip but finished well 2 3/4 lengths further back in 3rd. Kaigun has been racing well in Graded company, he ran 2nd to real Solution in the G1 Manhattan Stakes at BEL in June and ran 2nd to Wise Dan in the Maker's 46 Mile at KEE in April. Kaigun race record is 4-3-1 from 14 starts and he has earned $547,860.
