Description: Gold Medal Dancer (KY) B , M, foaled March 23, 2010 ( 0Medaglia d'Oro - Bachata, by Kingmambo) gets her first Graded Stakes victory in the 8.5 furlong $300K Grade II Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn Park March 14, 2015. Over a course rated 'Good' (sealed) but downgraded after the race to 'Sloppy', Gold Medal Dancer was sent from the start by jockey Luis Quinonez and held off Untapable to win by a half length. Untapable was making her first start as a four year old, she was last seen winning the Breeders' Cup Distaff November 1, 2014. Untapable won 6 out of 7 races as a three year old and won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Three Year Old Filly. Gold Medal Dancer raced to the front after the break as Untapable gave chase around the first turn and up the back stretch. Gold Medal Dancer was able to set relatively soft fractions of :24.66, :48.96, Untapable didn't put the pressure on until after 6 panels in 1:13.85. Gold Medal Dancer had to much left for the drive and as Untapable came to match strides turning for home, Gold Medal Dancer was able to hold her off with a final time of 1:45.92.
