Description: Fashion Plate (KY) DK B/, F, foaled April 15, 2011 (Old Fashioned - Miss Puzzle (AUS), by Citidancer (IRE)) ran her win streak to 3 in a row with a sparkling win in the 1 1/16 miles $400K Grade I Santa Anita Oaks at Santa Anita Park April 5, 2014. Fashion Plate broke well from the inside post under jockey Gary Stevens and went into the Clubhouse turn with Honey Ride trying to keep up to her outside. As they traveled down the backstretch Honey Ride applied mild pressure as Artemis was traveling well along the inside. However, as they hit the 3/8's pole Fashion Plate lengthened her stride and those two couldn't keep up. Ria Antonia did make a run at Fashion Plate around the turn but it was clear to all onlookers that Gary Stevens and Fashion Plate were in complete control. She wins by 1 1/4 lengths over Ria Antonia and Bajan was 3 3/4 lengths further back in 3rd. Fashion Plate picked up her 2nd Grade I race in a row; she won the Las Virgenes Stakes February 1, 2014 in the same front running style. Fashion Plate picked up 100 points to earn her a starting position in the Kentucky Oaks May 2 at Churchill Downs. She was bred by Springland Farm & Fox Hill Farms, Inc.
