Description: Fashion Plate (KY) DK B/, F, foaled April 15, 2011 (Old Fashioned - Miss Puzzle (AUS), by Citidancer (IRE)) went to the front and never looked back as she wins her first stakes race in her young career in winning the 1 mile $300K Grade I Las Virgenes at Santa Anita Park February 1, 2014. Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens had to deal with Taste Like Candy briefly around the clubhouse turn but, decidedly, he wanted the lead to himself. He set Fashion Plate on her task and got her to relax a bit down the back stretch. As they entered the far turn Taste Like Candy and Streaming came along side to put the pressure on. Taste Like Candy couldn't keep up and Streaming was there on the outside to make it a two horse race to the wire. However, Fashion Plate kept going strong and maintained her lead to win by a 1/2 at the wire. Arethusa was 3/4 lengths further back in 3rd. Fashion Plate is 2-0-1 from 4 lifetime starts and she has earned $219,250 for her owners Arnold Zetcher LLC and Michael Tabor.
