Description: Effinex (NY) DK B/, C, foaled April 15, 2011 (Mineshaft - What a Pear, by E Dubai) shakes off his 'sour frame of mind' in his DNF in the Brooklyn Invitational last month to come back and win the 10 furlong $500K Grade II Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park July 4, 2015. Jockey Junior Alvarado allowed Effinex to settle into stride as Street Babe and Coach Inge went out to set the pace. As they raced up the back stretch, Effinex on the inside was joined by Tonalist to his outside and they advanced quickly to race behind the leaders. Effinex had to take up as he ran up on Street Babe and Tonalist got a clear path on the outside as they rounded the far turn. Effinex regrouped and angled around a tiring Street Babe and came off the rail to get around Coach Inge who was battling on as they entered home stretch. Effinex and Tonalist got to Coach Inge in deep stretch with Effinex winning by a head over Tonalist. Coach Inge was 1 1/2 lengths further back in 3rd. Effinex is now 6-1-2 from 16 starts and he has earned $782,250. He was bred by Dr. Russell S. Cohen who is the racing manager for the owners at Tri-Bone Stables.
