Description: Don't Tell Sophia (KY) B , M, foaled May 9, 2008 (Congaree - Lost Expectations, by Valid Expectations) came from last to first to win the 1 1/8 miles $500K Grade I Juddmonte Spinster Stakes at Keeneland Race Course October 5, 2014. Jockey Joe Rocco, Jr. let Close Hatches and Ria Antonia run off and set the pace while Don't Tell Sophia settle into stride at the back of the six horse field. Don't Tell Sophia was still last and the field entered the far turn but at that point she started to gobble up the ground and by the time Close Hatches and Ria Antonia had straightened for home Don't Tell Sophia was coming on strong with a furlong to go. Close Hatches never got a breather and started to back out of it and Ria Antonia couldn't stay with Don't Tell Sophia as she drew off to win by 2 1/2 lengths. It was 2 1/4 lengths further back to Molly Morgan in 3rd. Don't Tell Sophia wins her first Grade I race; she now has a record of 11-4-3 from 22 starts. She has earned $979,295 for her owners Jerry Namy and Phillip Sims, Sims also trains Don't Tell Sophia. She was bred by Stonerside Stables. The Juddmonte Spinster Stakes is a Breeders' Cup World Championships 'Win & You're In' Challenge Series race and Don't Tell Sophia will have her entry fees paid for a start in the BC Distaff October 31st at Santa Anita Park.
