Description: Carpe Diem (KY) CH , C, foaled February 29, 2012 (Giant's Causeway - Rebridled Dreams, by Unbridled's Song) stays undefeated with 2 victories with a runaway win in the 1 1/16 miles $500K Grade 1 Breeders' Futurity on the main track at Keeneland Race Course October 4, 2014. Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez tried to rate him behind the pace set by Conquest Tsunami but Carpe Diem was here to race. He pulled himself up to the leader up the back stretch and put away that one as they rounded turn. Carpe Diem pulled away down the stretch to win by 6 1/4 lengths. Mr. Z took back after showing speed early and closed well to get second. It was 5 3/4 lengths further back to Conquest Tsunami in 3rd. Carpe Diem was purchased by his owners, Winstar Farms and Stonestreet Farms, at the 2014 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s selected sale of 2-year-olds in training for $1.6 million. He is 2 for 2 and he has earned $349,800. The Breeders' Futurity is a Breeders' Cup World Championships 'Win & You're In' Challenge Series race and Carpe Diem will have his entry fees paid for a start in the BC Juvenile this November at Santa Anita Park. The Futurity is also a 'Road the the Kentucky Derby' prep race and Carpe Diem has earned 10 points toward a start in the 2015 Kentucky Derby the first Saturday in May.
