Description: Blofeld (KY) GR/RO, C, foaled January 23, 2012 (Quality Road - Storm Minstrel, by Storm Cat) gets his first win since his undefeated two year old season ( MSW SAR, G2 Futurity BEL, G2 Nashua AQU) in the 8 furlong $500K Grade II Gulfstream Park Handicap at Gulfstream Park March 5, 2016. Jockey John Velazquez and Blofeld broke alertly to track the pace set by Anchor Down out of the chute and up the back stretch. Anchor Down was joined by Stanford after a half mile and Valid and Blofeld were stalking that pair as they rounded the far turn. Blofeld stayed along the and got through in deep stretch to win by a head over Stanford. It was 1 1/4 lengths further back to Anchor Down in 3rd. However, Anchor Down created some problems for Valid around the furlong marker, Valid almost went down, and Anchor Down was DQ'd and placed fourth. Blofeld is now 4-0-1 from 7 starts and he has earned $650,600. He was bred by Keats Grove Farm and owned by Glencrest Farm LLC (Lessee) and JSM Equine, LLC. Blofeld is being trained by Todd Pletcher.
