Description: Beholder (KY) B , M, foaled May 9, 2010 (Henny Hughes - Leslie's Lady, by Tricky Creek) becomes the second horse in the history of the Grade I Zenyatta Stakes (formerly the Lady's Secret, Zenyatta won the Lady's Secret 2008-10) to win it three times with her facile victory in the 8.5 furlong $300K test for F&M three year olds & up at Santa Anita Park September 26, 2015. Jockey Gary Stevens sent Beholder out to chase the pace set by My Sweet Addiction from her outside and was caught five wide around the Clubhouse turn. Beholder went up to challenge My Sweet Addiction as they passed the 1/2 mile marker and those two went around the far turn stride for stride. Beholder started to draw off as they turned for home and won easily over My Sweet Addiction by 3 1/4 lengths. Savings Account was 5 1/2 lengths further back for the show. Beholder was the Eclipse Award winning filly at two and three, she won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at 2 and the the Breeders' Cup Distaff at 3 and appears to be heading for the another Eclipse award this year. Beholder went to the post just 3 times as a 4 year old winning the winning the Black Type Santa Lucia Stakes at Santa Anita, she ran a close 4th behind Close Hatches in the Grade I Ogden Phipps at Belmont Park, and closed out her 4 year old year with a victory in the Zenyatta Stakes September 27, 2014. Beholder was then given time off until she resurfaced in the Santa Lucia Stakes April 10, 2015. Her victory that day began her 5 race win streak in 2015 including a victory in the Grade I Pacific Classic at Del Mar August 22nd. The Pacific Classic is a Breeders' Cup 'Win And You're In' Challenge Series race for an entry into the BC Classic. Her victories in the Clement Hirsch at Del Mar and her Zenyatta win gets her a free pass into the BC Distaff. Her connections have indicated they will send her to the Classic to face American Pharoah at Keeneland October 31st.. Beholder was bred by Clarkland Farm, owned by Spendthrift Farm, and she is being trained by Richard Mandella. She is 15-3-0 from 20 starts and she has earned $4,436,600.
