Description: American Pharoah (KY) B , R, foaled February 2, 2012 (Pioneerof the Nile - Littleprincessemma, by Yankee Gentleman) simply was absolutely best in the 1 1/16 miles $300K Grade I Frontrunner Stakes on the main track at Santa Anita Park September 27, 2014. Jockey Victor Espinoza sent American Pharoah immediately to the front, set moderate fractions and when Calculator came to him turning for home American Pharoah galloped off to win by 3 1/4 lengths. American Pharoah used the same tactics to win the Del Mar Futurity on the All Weather surface September 3rd. There doesn't seem to be a 2 year old that can match strides with this runner. American Pharoah is a homebred of Zayat Stables LLC. He is 2-0-0 from his 3 starts and has earned $361,500. Calculator made a nice move rounding the far turn to draw close to American Pharoah but could not sustain his bid. It was 1 1/2 lengths further back to Texas Red who closed well for the show. American Pharoah is being trained by Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. The Frontrunner is a Breeders' Cup World Championships 'Win & You're In' Challenge Series race and American Pharoah will get his entry fees paid for a start in the BC Juvenile November 1st at Santa Anita. The Frontrunner is also a 'Road to the Kentucky Derby Series' race, American Pharoah earned 10 points for his victory towards a starting berth in the 2015 Kentucky Derby the first Saturday in May, 2015.
