Description: Main Sequence (KY) CH , G, foaled February 13, 2009 (Aldebaran - Ikat (IRE), by Pivotal (GB)) is undefeated in North America after winning the 1 1/2 miles $3 million Grade I Breeders' Cup Turf over 'good' going at Santa Anita Park November 1, 2014.  Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez was aboard for regular rider Rajiv Maragh.  Maragh had to sit this one out as he is recovering from a spill that occurred September 27 in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park.  Maragh was riding Wicked Strong in the Gold Cup and around the 9/16th marker Moreno came over and Wicked Strong clipped heels with that one unseating jockey Maragh.  Rajiv Maragh suffered a broken arm in the mishap.  Moreno finished 4th behind winner Tonalist but was disqualified and placed last.  John Velazquez said that Rajiv gave him perfect riding instructions before the race.  In the Turf, Main Sequence settle into stride along the outside as Hardest Core came away with lead after the brief run down the hill and into the Clubhouse turn.  Imagining was the first to get to the front early and relinquished the lead to Starspangled Heat.  The latter gave up the lead to Hardest Core as they started the run up the back stretch.  Main Sequence was galloping along the outside in 7th.  As Hardest Core was rounding the far turn Imagining took up the chase and Main Sequence and Flintshire were sent to get after them.  As they turned for home Hardest Core had the lead but Imagining got to him from the outside and Telescope got through along the rail.  Flintshire got first run to the wire in mid stretch and Main Sequence was in full stride in the middle of the track.  Twilight Eclipse was closing late but Main Sequence hit the front in the final strides to beat Flintshire by a neck.  Twilight Eclipse was 1 1/4 lengths further back for the show.  Main Sequence came from Great Britain after a modest career to win the G1 United Nations July 6th at Monmouth Park.  He followed that with a victory in the G1 Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga August 17.  Main Sequence then went to Belmont Park and won the G1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic September 27th.  A homebred of Maria Niarchos' Flaxman Holdings, Main Sequence is 8-3-3 from 18 starts and he has earned $3,298,386.  He is being trained by Graham Motion. Drawing by Daily Racing Funnies ®.
