Description: Lord Nelson (KY) CH, C, foaled March 1, 2012 (Pulpit - African Jade, by Seeking the Gold) rings up his third straight victory for his new connections with a score in the 6 furlong $300K Grade I Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar July 31, 2016. Jockey Flavien Prat and Lord Nelson let Justin Squared and Subtle Indian knock heads as they raced up the back stretch. Lord Nelson pulled himself up to the leaders along the outside as they neared the quarter pole and drew off to win as much the best by 4 lengths. Justin Squared did away with Subtle Indian as they turned for home but had little left for the drive. Indexical ran well out of the turn along the inside to get the place 3 1/4 lengths in front of Alsvid. Lord Nelson was purchased by Spendthrift Farms from Peachtree Stables after his third place finish to Runhappy in the G1 Malibu at Santa Anita December 26, 2015. He was given a long rest and came back to win an AOC (no tag) June 3rd and then won the Grade I Triple Bend Stakes at Santa Anita June 25th. Rafael Bejarano was the rider in both those wins. Bob Baffert continued on as trainer for Spendthrift Farms. Lord Nelson is now 6-1-1 from 12 starts and he has earned $778,271. He was bred by Clearsky Farms. The Big Crosby is a Breeders' Cup Challenge 'Win & You're In' Series race and Lord Nelson gets his entry fees paid towards a start in the 2016 BC sprint at Santa Anita November 5th.
