Description: Klimt (KY) B, C, foaled April 14, 2014 (Quality Road - Inventive, by Dixie Union) gets to three in row in a commanding performance in the 7 furlong $300K Grade I Del Mar Futurity at the seaside oval September 5, 2016, Jockey Rafael Bejarano and Klimt settled into stride in the fourth position as they raced up the back stretch. Straight Fire went to the front with Midnight Pleasure and Chasing Aces, after he bore in towards the main track out of the chute, came up to apply pressure to Straight Fire. Chasing Aces was said to have suffered his initial injury when he ducked in out of the chute further injured himself as he was turning for home. He suffered a slab fracture to his left knee, was pulled up turning for home and vanned off, and was euthanized. Chasing Aces post a track record for five furlongs 56.21 July 17th when he won his MSW by 5 1/4 lengths over Straight Fire. Klimt got rolling around the far turn, drew even with Straight Fire, and those two battled down from the top of the lane to inside the 1/8th pole when Klimt started to draw clear. Klimt won by 4 1/4 lengths, Straight Fire stayed on for the place 1 1/2 lengths in front of Midnight Pleasure. Klimt is 3-0-0 from 4 starts and he has earned $336,960.
