Description: Hardest Core (KY) DK B/, G, foaled April 15, 2010 (Hard Spun - Lillybuster, by Housebuster) gets his fourth win in a row, the biggest race of his career, with a victory in the 32nd running of the 1 1/4 miles Grade I Arlington Million over a firm turf course at Arlington Park August 16, 2014. Jockey Eriluis Vaz had the garden spot as Side Glance set the pace and Magician was running along in second. As Side Glance neared the 1/4 pole, Magician came up to challenge for the lead and Hardest Core came off the rail to make his run along the outside. Magician got the best of Side Glance nearing the furlong grounds but Hardest Core was flying and got the win by a length. Side Glance was 1 1/4 lengths further back in 3rd. Hardest Core was purchased by his current owners, Andrew Bentley Stables, LLC from the 2013 Keeneland November breeding stock sale for $210K. The Bentleys bought Hardest Core for their son, Andrew for his 30th birthday. Hardest Core raced in AOC and minor stakes company for his previous owners at Ghostzapper Racing and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. The Bentleys gelded Hardest Core after the purchase and complications from that left him fighting for his life. Obviously, he did recover and was given 7 months off. He came back to win another AOC (no tag) at Parx June 28, 2014. He then won the $50K Cape Henlopen Stakes at Delaware Park July 12th. Trainer Edward Graham and jockey Vaz get their first Graded Stakes wins with the victory. The Arlington Million is a Breeders' Cup Championship 'Win & You're In' Challenge Series race for the BC Turf this Fall at Santa Anita Park, Hardest Core gets all his entry fees paid for. Hardest Core has a race record of 6-2-0 from 11 starts and he has earned $842,580. He was bred by Mueller Farms, Inc. Drawing by Daily Racing Funnies ®.
