Description: American Pharoah (KY) B , C, foaled February 2, 2012 (Pioneer of the Nile - Littleprincessemma, by Yankee Gentleman) enters stud duty at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Versailles, KY. American Pharoah won the 2015 Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes and became the first Thoroughbred to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed did it in 1978. American Pharoah began his racing career as a two year old. He won his second race, the Grade I Del Mar Futurity September 3, 2014 after finishing 5th to runaway winner Om in a MSW August 9th at Del Mar. American Pharoah went to win the Grade 1 Frontrunner Stakes at Santa Anita Park September 27th and won the Eclipse Award for the Outstanding Two Year Old Male of 2014. American Pharoah began his Road to the Triple Crown as a three year with victories in the G2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park March 14, 2015 and the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby April 11th. He won the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs May 2nd, the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico May 16th, and the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park June 6th. He traveled to Monmouth Park and won the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational August 2nd. American Pharoah lost the 2nd time in his career came at the hands of Keen Ice by 3/4 lengths in the G1 Travers at Saratoga August 29th. American Pharoah capped his career with a brilliant victory in the G1 Breeders' Cup World Championships at Keeneland October 31, 2015. The racing world acclaimed his victory in the Triple Crown and the Classic as 'The Grand Slam'. He was retired after his victory in the Breeders' Cup with a record of 9-1-0 from 11 starts with earnings of $8,650,300. American Pharoah is a homebred of Zayat Stables and was trained by Bob Baffert. His regular rider was Victor Espinoza. American Pharoah's stud fee for his first season has been set at $200K.
